What is a certified translation?

A certified translation is a translation whose conformity with the original document is confirmed by an authorized person. The original document (or a copy of it) is bound together with the translation using a ribbon in the national colors, together with a certification clause in which the issuer confirms that the two documents match.

Who is entitled to issue certified translations in Hungary?

Contrary to popular belief, certified translations are not issued exclusively by the Hungarian Office for Translation and Attestation (OFFI). Certified translation of company extracts, as well as of data and company documents to be registered in the company register, into any official language of the European Union chosen by the company, may also be carried out by professionals holding a qualification as a specialized translator or specialized translator-reviser.

It is also important to know that many Hungarian authorities and organizations do not always insist on certification by OFFI, but also accept the officially certified specialized translation issued by our agency. We recommend that you always check this in advance with the relevant authority.
